A Traveler Foodie e-Spot.. Traveling like quantum!

I’ve spent 5 awesome days during the New Year holiday in Zurich from 31/12/2013 to 4/1/2014.  I’ve traveled by the KLM from Kuwait and a stop in Amsterdam for transit. I reached Zurich airport at 8 AM. While I was at the airport I purchase train ticket and headed to the city center, where my hotel was just across the street from the main station.

By the time I reached the Train Station the temperature was 1 degrees  ! I didn’t really felt it, because it was sunny outside.

Hotel staff was very welcoming. I stayed at Hotel Schweizerhof, located at the very center. I can see the Starbucks just in front of my windows, and the side of the train station.

The room was cozy and comfy. It’s equiped with daily free bottle of water, coffee maker, safe, rope & sleepers, fruit basket, and adjustable bed.  I went out to discover the place, walked long toward Bahnhofstrasse, and from there to Zurich Lake, it felts peaceful sitting in front of the lake, and I enjoyed the sunny weather.

From Zurich Lake I went heading to the  “Grossmunster” cathedral. The view from there was a mazing, and the sky was almost blue.

I pass by a Fondu Cafe beside the lake, and spent the day there. Had an espresso, and then  I asked for a Cheese Fondu.  It started chilling during the sunset and I felt freezing. They had blankets all at the top of each chair, I handed mine and covered my self. My teeth started shaken from the cold! I kept dipping the bread in the melted cheese while it was really hot and eat it directly, convincing myself that it will keep me warm!

I went then back walking toward the hotel, resisting this cold weather! It was a long walk about 35 minutes from this restaurant to the hotel. but I’ve enjoyed each and every spot I passed by.

It was dark half the way to the hotel. and it became even more cold and I was shaky and tired !!

It was around 7:30 PM when I reached the hotel. When I entered my room I found this XMAS cute red sleepers with a wonderful letter, and chocolate from the hotel,  on my bed. It was really thoughtful from them.

I was so so so tired. I wanted to have a nap and get ready not to miss the New Year Firework in front of the lake. But while I was laying on my bed, I was thinking twice whether to make it to the lake or just skip the firework and sleep. I felt worm inside the bed and wanted to sleep so badly. Finally, I’ve made up my mind and decided to skip the firework and have a good night sleep. and  I DID!!

The Next day, when I woke up at 5:30 AM, I was like OMG! did I just skip the New Year Party!! HOW COME?!! I kinda regretted skipping the new year. I started rewinding the scenario all over again from yesterday’s night. What If I went to the lake by the taxi? would not I enjoyed the counting down for the new year and the firework? Ooh I tried to forget all about it.. but again and again and again. I then started checking Zurich Instagram pics to watch the firework!! it was really amazing I loved each and every pic/video capturing the New Year event in Zurich. I even started to regret not going more..! It was dark outside,  the sunrise is at 8:15 AM. I made my self a cup of coffee at 7:30 AM. and sat in front of the window waiting for the sunrise.

After that I have done with the coffee, I went to have my first 2014 breakfast at the first floor. When I reached the first floor the first thing I noticed was a wonderful Christmas Tree.

La Soupiere Restaurant where they serve a festive breakfast. I waiter asked me whether if I want tea or coffee. I told him I just had my coffee in the room. He was like, what about hot chocolate. I thought it was a good idea specially in this cold whether.

I had an amazing, delicious breakfast. Although it was a bit limited. What I had enjoyed the most are their croissant, breads, and cheeses. I asked wether they serve eggs, and apparently they do. I ordered sunny side friend eggs, which is my favorite!
