Destination: Tokyo, Japan
Duration: 7 Days.
Dates: Feb 22 to Feb 28 2014.
Via: Etihad Airways.
Hotel: Shangri-La Tokyo.

I’ve been thinking for awhile to visit Tokyo. Back in January me and my friend finally decided to visit Tokyo!    After checking most of the hotel in Tokyo, I’ve decided to book at the Shangri-La Hotel through Booking.com. I made some online researches about the currency exchange, Pre-paid sim, and for the flights. Our best choice was Etihad Airways. Although it was so expensive for an economy class! The ticket costs us per person in Kuwaiti Diner= KD 530. I’ve preordered a B-Mobile from their website to be delivered directly to Narita Airport. it costs me around $ 50 plus delivery charges. They emailed me the instruction on how to get it from the Narita airport, via the post office located at the 4th floor in terminal 1. Also they provide a list of phones with their models which are compatible with the sim card. I had a US iPhone which was not included in the list, but decided to give it a try.

Our flight was scheduled 05:35 PM on  21/2/2014 from Kuwait International Airport with a stop for 2 hours at Abu Dhabi International Airport, and from there directly to Tokyo, a flight that lasted 9 hours and 30 minutes!

It was a smooth flight though.. The time has passed so fast (Thanks God).

Day 1

We arrived Narita International Airport at 01:35 PM. I headed to the 4th floor to get my Pre-Paid Sim Card from the post office. Replaced my sim card with their and Olala It was not compatible with my iPhone 5!! We went then to the first floor to check if there is any shop who can provide us with it. Unfortunately, non of those shop sells Internet Pre-Paid sim-cards, and all what they offer is a wifi modem for rent, with a security refundable fees 30,000 Yens, around $300!!

We exchanged some dollars for Yens $1 = 102 Yens at the airport. In order to buy tickets for the Train Station to Tokyo Station.

I asked the service center at the train station for the Suci prepaid card in order to fill it for a roundtrip from and to the Narita airport, and a two days unlimited use for the Sub-Way stations. They told us we have to put 5500 Yens. Got the tickets and headed to the train station, located in B1. The ride from Narita Terminal 1 Station to tokyo station took about 55 minutes, and that includes two stops, one at Terminal 2 and the second one at Narita.

We reached the Tokyo Station at 3:30 PM, took us another 30 minutes to figure out the right exit, which is a 5 minutes walk to Shangri-La hotel. It is a huge station, you can easily get lost there if you are not aware of the directions. Each exit has it’s own direction (East, Central, West)!

At the time we exit the train Station, it was quite cold outside! It was around 2 degrees Celsius. We then followed the hotel sign.

The staff at the hotel were very polite and welcoming. The hotel was so luxuries and scent was like a spa!

We checked in at 4:15 PM. and asked for the exchange rate. I was kinda shocked from the exchange rate! I was expecting to have a good rate at the hotel, better than the airport. But it turns out that the exchange rate at the airport is a way better than the hotel. The exchange rate at the hotel is $1 = 96.32 Yens unlike the airport which was 102 Yens.

We booked for a deluxe garden view room, which was super! Everything you can expect was available in the room! Free bottles of water, Electricity Converter (Which I’ve already asked for via an email to the hotel. Cause the voltage in Japan is 100V and i wanted to use 240V for my electric stuff), Kettle, Tea & Coffee, Bathrobe & Slippers, Toiletry. They even provide Clean Pajamas every night, which is quite awesome!! Also in the we found a couple of Japanese Style Pajamas in the room closet. The Bathroom was really cool, even the toilet was advanced in technology which has an amazing system.

We were really tired and decided only to visit somewhere close by our hotel. We went to Tokyo train station checking their shops and to have dinner at the same time.

While we were at the room in the hotel, we read a magazine that we took from the airport about Tokyo. They recommend some sort of Japanese sweets, which we found at the train station.

We had some of this and that, but the taste wasn’t that good!

After that we went to an Italian Restaurant to have dinner, after like 6 attempts on checking other restaurants/menu. It was not bad after all.
