I’ve decided to visit Amsterdam for a weekend trip and especially at this time of a year for the Christmas Market which is lovely. I’ve managed to book my flight 6 hours before departure via KLM. It was 8 PM when I booked the flight, and it was scheduled 1:45 AM. I grab my stuff and did the packing thingy so fast! Two hours later, I’ve managed to book the hotel, which was Crown Plaza, since I’ve already been there in 2012, during the New Year, and stayed at the same hotel which was convenience in term of location and the hotel itself. We left in the wee hours of the morning 1:45 AM 12/12/2013, and stayed until 14/12/2013 at 2:25 PM. Reaching Kuwait at 10:30 PM the same day. I really love those quick short visits during the weekends.
Day 1:
Our flight arrived to Schiphol airport at 6:00 AM. We took the train from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station, and from there went walking with our luggage to our hotel, since it is only a 6 minutes walk from the station. The one way ticket for two was 8 Euros for a 20 minutes ride from the Airport to center Amsterdam. It was quite cold nearly 1 degree in the morning.
The good thing, we were able to check in early in the morning which is awesome! We went up to the room unpacked our luggage and went out for breakfast. It was a bit dark outside, until sunrise at 8:30 AM.
We went walking again beside the canals. watching the boots while they pass by under the bridge.
I had Croissant with melted cheese for breakfast. We passed by the Xmas Market and it was closed. After asking the people around we were informed that they gonna open at noon.
We decided to go for a lil walk around Amsterdam in this beautiful weather. Enjoying Christmas Lights all everywhere and all around the streets.. walking to Dam Square where the Xmas Tree and between the canals. I enjoyed watching the people biking in Amsterdam. I took a T-Mobile prepaid card for 20 Euros.
Then we went back to the same Street where the Christmas Market located. Small souvenir shops and restaurants.
and There was Starbucks in front of us. I asked for Xmas special drinks. and I had Gingerbread Latte, enjoying it with this cold weather.
we went heading dam square again were the shops located.
I went then directly to my very favorite shop “Sabon” <3.
Sabon is a shop a must must visit! I took great stuff from there whenever I visit a country that have their store there. By then it was almost noon, so went back heading to the Christmas Market, since they open at this time of the day.
The first shop we’ve entered in front of the Christmas Market was the Cheeses shop! We’ve tested each and every type of cheese. YuMMY
Then we went to a barbecue/grill restaurant, it was one of those shops at the Xmas Market.
Could not resist their hot dog! Ahh with mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup!! ooh Yeah.
We almost spend our first day eating and testing food from here and there!! It was all yummy, some were favorite dishes from previous trips, and others are new to try.
Another Favorite fast food chain was FEBO! They’ve got the yummies burgers ever. My favorite one was with lettuce and cheese.
You just insert the coins pull the handler, and voila.. fresh, ready made, yummy burger for only 2,40 Euros!
Another favorite one, is the Potato shop Vleminckx Sausmeesters the best Chips in Amsterdam! You’ve got to choose from different kind of sauces. But I prefer it with Ketchup and Mayonnaise.
We went back to the hotel to put our bags from our shopping. while we were in the room, we thought of having a nap since we were tired walking from the morning. We stayed at the room for around 2 hours. and then went back outside while it was almost sunset.
The Christmas Market was a minutes walk from our hotel. and the Central Train Station is at the other side of the road.
We entered one of the fancy restaurant for bread and soup.
Then headed to Dam Square, to continue shopping.
We went back to the hotel at 9:30 PM. Our body was lacking the energy, we were so tired!
Day 2:
The next day we woke up at 8 AM, ready for another awesome day!
I kick of the day with an espresso and had our breakfast in a near by restaurant, close to our hotel.
After the Breakfast we continued walking around
We stopped by Swarovski and they were generous enough to offer coffee and tea.
Checking other shops while we were walking around. We then decided to go for a horse ride, where they are located at the Dam Square. Which costs us 35 Euros for a 20 minutes ride around the canals and the surrounded area.
and another FEBO burger for Lunch!
During Sunset we walked through the Christmas Market
Day 3:
We woke up early in the morning at 8 AM since we have a flight at 2:30 PM. We wanted to have breakfast and walk agin for some time before heading to the airport. We then arrange a taxi to the airport at 10:30 AM. The cost of the taxi through meter 52 Euro from our hotel to the airport.
And finally, I have to admit it, we spent two wonderful nights in Amsterdam.
